Maternal and Child Health Student Organization Creates Vision Board Expressing Hopes for the Future

MCH vision boarding

MCH students gathered in Nesbitt Hall's Collaboratory to create a vision board about what their student organization means to them.

February 5, 2024

The Maternal and Child Health Student Organization (MCHSO) hosted its winter term General Body Meeting in January. Over twenty students from the Dornsife School of Public Health and other Drexel schools came together to learn more about the group and enjoy a free dinner with others interested in maternal and child health (MCH).

"The vision board was a great way to ultimately come back to why we are an organization and how we want to make an impact on different communities through maternal and child health.” - Marissa Campbell

The students worked collaboratively to create a vision board. During this time, attendees gave ideas of what the MCHSO meant to them, what and who they think of, and the perception of the organization they want to relay.

Pictures of families, mothers, babies, breastfeeding, contraceptives, and female empowerment were just some of the many ideas MCHSO members had. All these pictures meant something in relation to the mission of the club, and many thoughts revolving around bringing attention and awareness to what the organization does and who they want to help.

“This winter General Body Meeting was a wonderful way to kick off 2024 and the start of the term for MCHSO," said MCHSO president Marissa Campbell. "We were able to see past members, and bring in new, to go over the mission and values of MCHSO, as well as upcoming events we are hosting."

The meeting gave members an opportunity to get to know each other, eat some good food together, and participate in the creation of the 2024 vision board.

Overall, students enjoyed working together and sharing their hopes for MCH and the MCHSO. "The vision board was a great way to ultimately come back to why we are an organization and how we want to make an impact on different communities through maternal and child health,” said Campbell.

MCHSO invites all Drexel students interested in MCH to get engaged and help support future events.
