Maternal Child Health Student Organization Delivers Self Care Kits to Mothers at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

Drexel's Maternal Child Health Student Organization (MCHSO) hosted their second Service Day engagement in observance of Mother's Day. MCHSO prepared "self-care packages" for parents of patients receiving care at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
"I am an international student here at Drexel, so I haven't been able to see my mom in Peru since March. Being able to serve other moms in such a special way is really a great community service opportunity ahead of Mother’s Day," said undergrad Alex Gonzales.
More than 50 packages were prepared with Chapsticks, hand cream, pens, affirmation cards, face masks, a gratitude journal, and small affirmation card to show appreciation and remind busy moms to take a moment for self-care over the weekend. The kits were well received as they were distributed at the hospital by Dr. Renee Turchi, Medical Director of Special Programs at St. Christopher's Hospital and Drexel DSPH faculty advisor of MCHSO.
"The kits are so special for our mothers, they are bringing smiles to parents all over the hospital this morning," said Dr. Turchi.
CBS News was there to cover delivery of the kits and ran a story on its website which can be viewed here.
