Notable Events

Emerging Perspectives on Children in Migratory Circumstances Conference.  Organized by Dr. Rachel Reynolds, this was the meeting of the Working Group on Childhood and Migration. Held at Drexel University from June 20-22, 2008.

Important Developments

Criminal Justice added two new minors: Computer Crime and Paralegal Studies.

Major Speakers

Amal Hassan Fadlalla – Dr. Fadlalla was invited by Dr. Mary Ebeling to give a lecture entitled “Embodying Honor: Fertility, Foreignness, and Regeneration in Eastern Sudan,” based off of her book on the subject.  The talk was held on Friday, November 9, 2007.

Martin Evans – Dr. Evans was invited by Dr. Rachel Reynolds to give a lecture entitled “ ‘New War’ or a Mirror on Our Times? Some Reflections on Contemporary Conflict Studies,” which was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008.

Anabelle Rodriguez – Café Latino (and Dr. Mariadelaluz Matus-Mendoza), along with the support of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, sponsored Ms. Rodriguez’s talk entitled “The Many Phases of Frida Kahlo” on March 12, 2008.

Michael Angelovich – Mr. Angelovich was invited by Dr. Mary Ebeling to give a lecture entitled “Wrapping Our Heads Around the World: Experiences in Global Branding,” which was held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007.
