Career Opportunities
Possible career options for our students include private sector environmental affairs and public relations departments, consulting firms, governmental agencies, non-profit advocacy and environmental policy groups, and educational organizations. Students will also be well prepared for graduate studies in a range of fields, including: social sciences; urban planning and policy; communications; law and public health.
Potential Careers
- City Planner. Develops plans for the use of land in urban areas, works with government officials to guide land development and redevelopment, reviews developers’ proposals, and may focus on environmental issues such as protecting environmentally sensitive areas or on other issues such as housing or transportation.
- Environmental Epidemiologist. Investigates the presence and prevalence of disease in industrialized and urban areas, explores how industrial pollutants affect health, conducts epidemiological studies and analyzes the results, and works with health care professionals in preventing and controlling disease.
- Environmental Scientist. Studies how human activities such as land development affect the environment, works to protect and improve the environment by conducting research into sources of pollution, and offers technical support to environmental organizations and public agencies.
