Drexel University, Class of 1990

"I can truly say that my encounter with the sociology department at Drexel University was truly life transforming. The various sociology courses I had taken with Professors Julia Hall, Elizabeth Petras, and Douglas Porpora provided me with new analytical tools and a clearer way to understand the society I was living in. My engagement with the sociology department not only allowed me to discover an interest in sociology but also a career. With the help and guidance of Professor Porpora I focused my sights on becoming a sociologist and I am currently an assistant professor of Sociology at Colgate University. The special bond I have with the faculty and the memories of my experiences with the sociology department at Drexel University will always stay with me."
