College to Mark Return to Campus with ‘CoAS Comes Back!’ Celebration

After 18 months of remote and hybrid learning, Drexel returns to a fully face-to-face instructional model for the fall term.

And the College of Arts and Sciences is ready to celebrate.

The College, recognized by President John Fry as “the heart of the University,” presents CoAS Comes Back! on Tuesday, October 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., in Gateway Garden. All Arts and Sciences students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to gather, connect in person, and enjoy food, fun and music.

“We want to come together to mark our return to campus,” says Interim Dean Kelly Joyce, PhD. “The past year and a half has been extraordinary and challenging. Yet we persevered and made it through, and it’s important to celebrate that together.”

Attendees looking for a bite will have plenty of delicious local options to choose from, including the Red Stone Pizza Truck, Hummus Grill, New Delhi Indian Restaurant and, for dessert, Insomnia Cookies. There will be games like cornhole and KanJam, a tie-dye t-shirt station and tunes from Drexel’s own WKDU-FM.

“I am so proud of the College’s students for persisting in the face of challenges, and so grateful to our dedicated faculty and staff who saw them through,” Joyce says. “I’m also thankful to all the Arts and Sciences alumni who stepped up to support the College and create additional Co-op opportunities. It will be special to see everyone in person and celebrate the strength of our community.”
