Drexel Edits

Department of Communication

Drexel Edits offers pro-bono editing services to nonprofit organizations in the neighborhoods that border Drexel University.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Drexel Edits is not accepting volunteers or projects for 2020- 22. We hope to resume services in the spring of 2023. If you have any questions, please email Dr. Hyunmin Lee at hl586@drexel.edu. In the meantime, we encourage you to browse opportunities and services offered by the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement or Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships.

Our Services

Nonprofit organizations in the neighborhoods that border Drexel University are encouraged to connect with Drexel Edits to request free editing services, workshops and public talks that cover public relations and communications topics. Drexel Edits has a team of dedicated volunteers who can consult and provide editing services for the following types of communications:

  • Strategic Plans
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Public Relations
  • Social Media and Web Design
  • Grant Proposals
  • Donor Appeals
  • Formal Reports

Giving Back

Drexel Edits cares about the vitality of the nonprofit organizations in our neighborhood. Nonprofit organizations must develop and maintain effective communication strategies to survive in a competitive economy, while also juggling unique needs and limitations. Drexel Edits was created as a center for support of nonprofit communication, to provide pro-bono guidance and services for neighboring nonprofits that want to communicate more effectively with their constituents and benefactors.

Formal messages have been foundational to American democracy since its beginning. The architects of the U.S. Constitution and the speechwriters for U.S. presidents have depended on good writing and editing. Well-written and edited texts are no less important for individual U.S. citizens and community organizations who live and flourish within democratic institutions.

Volunteer With Us

Drexel Edits offers opportunities for Drexel students, alumni, friends and associates to give back to the community and gain hands-on experience with local nonprofits. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the positions below, we are eager to hear from you! Please email us DrexelEdits@drexel.edu or call 215.571.4634.

  • Editors
  • Steering Committee Members
  • Administrative Assistants
