Headquartered in Center City Philadelphia, Bentley Systems is a global leader dedicated to providing engineers, architects, geospatial professionals, constructors, and owner-operators with comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure.
Founded in 1984, Bentley has more than 3,500 colleagues in over 50 countries. For more than 10 years, Bentley has employed Drexel University students as co-ops in its software engineering, computer science, data science and marketing departments.
“Drexel has been an important partner filling our talent pipeline with outstanding co-ops and graduating students who are beginning their careers,” Director of Career Development Don Robbins said. “We hope to provide innovative learning opportunities for students and give them chances to learn about Bentley Systems and their chosen professions.”
When considering potential co-op students, Bentley generally looks for those who are passionate about software development, love problem solving, wield the ability to learn on their own, and have the drive and work ethic to advance their current knowledge.
“It’s so important to be able to innovate and adapt to new challenges in today's rapidly evolving industry,” Robbins said, “Being open to new technologies and being willing to accept and lead change are both critical to success in the industry.”
Drexel co-op students are exposed to Bentley’s global teams that address worldwide challenges by staying on the cutting edge of technology. These teams also explore topics such as security, diversity, data management, data analytics, cloud technologies and environmental sustainability. Additionally, the company partners with multiple global non-profits to help tackle issues within the scope of sustainability.Bentley counts many Drexel alumni among its staff, including recent CCI graduates.
"The experiences of this new generation of CCI graduates is different than any other generation in the past," Robbins said. "We expect that their shared experiences with technology and the ability to connect with the world from a young age will bring a unique perspective to the corporate world."
