Mark Hernandez, MPH

Mark Hernandez, MPH, is a doctoral student in Epidemiology at the Urban Health Collaborative at Drexel University and an affiliate of The Ubuntu Center on Racism, Global Movements, and Population Health Equity.
 
Mark’s research examines how sociostructural factors and neighborhood environments shape population health and health equity. He uses quantitative methods to study how processes of social stratification and neighborhood change contribute to racial and socioeconomic health inequities over time. His current work focuses on how gentrification shapes mental health and how residential segregation influences chronic disease across the life course.
 
Prior to joining Drexel, Mark worked with federal and state government agencies to develop public health data analytics. He earned an MPH from Boston University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
