In Gratitude to All Who Have Served
Dear Members of the Drexel Community,
As Veterans Day approaches, I’d like to take a moment to recognize and thank our hundreds of students, faculty and professional staff who have served in the United States military. Your dedication to our country and to Drexel is inspiring and remarkable, and we benefit every day as a community because you — our heroes — are here.
Drexel celebrates Military Appreciation Month each year with activities and events, including participation in the city’s Veterans Day Parade and Festival on Nov. 9 and a special Veterans Day Tribute in the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery on Nov. 11. You can view the American Flag Installation, recognizing veterans currently enrolled at Drexel, on the lawn beside Perelman Plaza and Gerri C. LeBow Hall through Nov. 14, and Drexel Public Safety is hosting a care package drive for military families through early December.
Drexel has a long history of supporting student-veterans and military dependents as a Yellow Ribbon School. Through the Center for Military and Veteran Services, the Military Transition Program at Goodwin College and the Veterans Task Force, the University offers academic, career and social support from admission to alumni engagement. Human Resources also fosters community through the Veteran Colleague Resource Group, in collaboration with the Drexel Veteran Association and Alumni Network. Additionally, the Masci Family Student Veterans Lounge serves as a hub for study, networking and connection. I am proud to have joined a military-friendly campus community with such a welcoming and informative approach, and I am committed to ensuring this important legacy continues.
I invite everyone to join me in pausing and reflecting on the profound sacrifices made by our veterans and their families. We honor your service, courage and leadership, and reaffirm our gratitude now and always.
Sincerely,
Antonio Merlo, PhD
President
