Dear Students and Colleagues,

Each year at this time, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who moved mountains to secure racial justice and civil rights.

We can continue to draw inspiration and courage from Dr. King’s life by embracing our dynamic diversity and seizing opportunities for public service and civic engagement.

This year will mark the 28th day of service commemorating his life’s work. All this week and through January 17, the Lindy Center for Civic Engagement will honor Dr. King’s legacy with numerous activities from campus partners. All students, faculty, and professional staff are welcome to register for the programs on the Lindy Center’s Civic Engagement database, Drexel Galaxy Digital.

I also encourage each of you to support the wider Philadelphia community by choosing volunteer opportunities hosted by outside community organizations. Listings can be found and accessed on the Global Citizen volunteer portal.

I applaud our student-athletes and the many Drexel volunteers who have signed up to participate in community clean-up service projects throughout the West Philadelphia community on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and I invite each of you to stand with me again this year in striving to honor Dr. King’s legacy today and every day.

Sincerely,

John Fry
President
