'10,000 Hours' Podcast - Season 2

August 1, 2019

Drexel 10000 Hours Podcast LogoDrexel University Online just released the second season of “Drexel’s 10,000 Hours,” a faculty-focused podcast series that combines academic research with cultural commentary and personal anecdotes.

Hosted by Maurice Baynard, a Philadelphia-based research scientist, educator and edtech entrepreneur, and produced by Shaun Byron Fitzpatrick, a digital content specialist for Drexel University Online, the six-episode season gives members of Drexel’s faculty the opportunity to discuss their careers, lives and research interests in a casual, non-academic format.

"Season two’s guests come from literally all over the world, and their backgrounds and research interests couldn’t have been more different. But our goal was to find, in their stories, those shared experiences that mold a career and build a life,” said Baynard. "We believe in the value of asking simple questions. Where did you start? What were you trying to do? How did it go? The answers are rarely simple, many times surprising and always instructive."

The six faculty members interviewed this season are husband-and-wife team Arthur and Christine Nezu, Derek Gillman, Min Lee, Richard Mangano, Jeffrey Beard, and Barrie Litzky. Episodes cover topics ranging from treating PTSD in veteran populations to making Philadelphia a more sustainable city.
