Atlantic City native Adam Busler, ’13, did not expect to leave behind the excitement of Philadelphia at the very start of his legal career.
But when a job offer came along to join Fox Rothschild’s Atlantic City Office, he happily headed back to the Jersey shore, where he always hoped he would eventually return.
Although Busler misses the activity in the city, working up the street from one of the best surf beaches in the area pays dividends for a self-described “beach rat.”
“I can surf before work, take a quick shower, and throw my suit on for the work day,” he says.
Having joined Fox Rothschild’s litigation practice on Sept. 9, Busler is delighted to be licensed in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and to move from ghostwriting briefs and memos to signing documents with ‘Adam Busler, Esquire.’
Already busy with construction-related cases, real estate matters and a few employment and labor cases, Busler made his first court appearance with a pro bono case, obtaining a domestic violence restraining order on behalf of a client referred by South Jersey Legal Services.
Soon enough, Busler expects to find himself in Cumberland County and Camden, where the federal courthouse is located.
“I’ll be dancing around the state quite a bit,” he predicts.
In the meantime, Busler is finding that life in the firm is very agreeable. Not only do the firm’s co-chairs make themselves accessible to meet associates, they have vowed to maintain a “no-jerk policy.”
“As far as I can see,” Busler says, “it seems pretty true.”
That policy undoubtedly benefits from the strong representation of law school alumni at the firm, where Lauren Koster Beaver,’09, works in the Family Law and Litigation practice areas in Princeton, N.J.; Ryan North Miller, ‘10, works in the IP Litigation, Post- Grant Proceedings and Trade Secrets practice areas in Princeton, and Alexandra Scanlon, ‘12 works in the Litigation practice area in Blue Bell, Pa.
