THRIVE: Student Empowerment Retreat
You earned your seat in the class, and we want to make sure you own it! Apply for THRIVE: Student Empowerment Retreat. This opportunity begins on Thursday, September 11 – a few days before Welcome Week festivities begin – and runs through Saturday, September 13. This retreat focuses on fostering belonging and the empowerment of first year and transfer students by having purposeful and brave conversations to establish a learning community that is free from bias and discrimination and where all students develop a sense of belonging at Drexel.
Residential students will be permitted to move-in early, and commuter students are welcome to commute from home. Space is limited for this impactful opportunity where you will attend workshops to:
- Develop the art of self-advocacy and the skills to manage difficult conversations.
- Discuss the imposter syndrome and strategies to overcome it.
- Learn about resources, norms, expectations, “unwritten rules,” and terms that may otherwise be lost in translation for someone new to Drexel.
- Foster and strengthen a culture of equal access and belonging for all by getting introduced to centers and programs on campus integral to student success.
- Build community and nurture a learning community of all backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas free from bias or discrimination.
