Q & A with Anita Sarkeesian

ExCITe Center, February 19, 2016

Anita Sarkeesian is a media critic and the creator of Feminist Frequency, a video webseries that explores the representations of women in pop culture narratives. Her work focuses on deconstructing the stereotypes and tropes associated with women in popular culture as well as highlighting issues surrounding the targeted harassment of women in online and gaming spaces.

Sarkeesian QA

ExCITe was honored to co-host an informal Q & A with the feminist media critic, alongside Temple Libraries and the Entrepreneurial Game Studio. The event was moderated by Director Frank Lee and Arianna Gass, program manager of the EGS. The discussion ranged from sexism across cultures to the importance of women continuing to enter the game industry. After the discussion, students were able to talk to Anita and take photos with the feminist icon.
