In the second Speaker Series event of the 2023-24 academic year, the Medical Cannabis Research Center welcomed Meredith Buettner, Executive Director of Pennsylvania Cannabis Coalition.

As a Harrisburg insider, Buettner has a keen understanding of Pennsylvania's political landscape and unique experience in advocacy and campaigns to the Pennsylvania Cannabis Coalition. As the Executive Director, Buettner manages all administrative aspects of the statewide industry association as well as actively contributes to cannabis policy making in Pennsylvania. She was instrumental in the passage of Act 44 – the most extensive update to the Commonwealth’s medical marijuana statute since its passage in 2016.

Buettner spoke on the pending bills to amend the Pennsylvania's Medical Marijuana Program (PAMMJ), an adult-use bill that would legalize cannabis for adults 21+ in the commonwealth, and the complex procedures and barriers to changing cannabis laws to be more equitable and accessible while addressing public health concerns.
