The fourth episode of OFF CAMPUS, our student-produced sitcom overseen by Professor Andrew Susskind, won the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ (NATAS) College Production Award of Excellence this past Saturday in the “Outstanding College Long Form Fiction Programming” category. The "Crystal Pillar" award was presented to six former Westphal College of Media Arts & Sciences students at the Mid-Atlantic Emmy ceremonies. 

This is the second such award for OFF CAMPUS in the last three years. Described as a cross between FRIENDS and IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, OFF CAMPUS provides a lighthearted and honest look at the confusing world that America’s young people face in today’s economic times.The show was picked up by CBS’ The CW Philly 57 in 2011. OFF CAMPUS previously earned an NATAS award for “Outstanding Achievement in a Student Production” in 2011 and was nominated again in 2012 for “College Production–Arts and Entertainment/Cultural Affairs.”

Though all NATAS award nominees are selected as a group, the OFF CAMPUS students were also recognized for their individual roles, including producer and director Andrew Catania, ’12, and supervising producer Laurel Chadwick, who were part of the OFF CAMPUS nominated team in 2012 and the winning team in 2011. New 2013 graduates Andrew Misialek and Alex Igidbashian were recognized as both directors and writers, Arlynn Katz and Megan Pollin were recognized for their roles as producer and editor, respectively. When the Drexel alumni worked on the show, they performed all production tasks but hired professional local actors.
