Digital Advertising

February 20, 2013 — Advertising has been radically redefined in our digital age and the industry itself has been transformed creating new work and entrepreneurial opportunities for those with appropriate backgrounds and skill-sets. R/GA, one of the world’s leading digital advertising agencies, seeks to provide the context needed for students to understand these opportunities and evaluate whether this is a field worth pursuing. R/GA’s Michael Lowenstern and Dan Fradin will host a lecture and workshop on Thursday, February 21st at 6PM in the URBN Annex Screening Room, (Room 110, 3401 Filbert St.) during which they’ll provide an overview of a broad spectrum of disciplines that are in demand for online advertising, social media campaigns, digital media marketing, research and analytics. They’ll discuss career opportunities and best practices in digital advertising and welcome audience participation as they demonstrate how to build a campaign from scratch. 
   
Michael Lowenstern started in digital advertising more than 15 years ago. He has been at the forefront of the digital advertising space, pushing the boundaries of innovation and earning awards along the way for some of the biggest companies in the world including Walmart and S.C. Johnson. After starting the digital practices at Grey and MRM, Michael founded the department at R/GA five years ago and is the Managing Director for Digital Advertising.  He oversees production, strategy, and technical development for ads for the agency’s clients, including Nike and MasterCard. 

Dan Fradin is an online advertising expert with over a decade of experience planning and executing award winning campaigns. He believes that the most successful campaigns understand the balance between great creative, the user experience, and the advertiser’s goals. Currently, Dan is the Strategy Director for the Digital Advertising group at R/GA. His responsibilities include developing testing, optimization, and messaging plans along with strategic and tactical guidance for Microsoft, Capital One, and Verizon.
