Course Credit for DNews

September 10, 2011

DUTV logoFor several years now students have created original news stories for DUTV each month as part of the award winning news magazine DNEWS that reports on all things Drexel. Students, you may not have known that you could get involved or shied away because of busy course schedules so we're pleased to announce that students in TV Magazine Show I & II (TVPR 356, CRN 15095) will now be responsible for creating DNEWS. That means you'll receive course credit for creating DNEWS programming for DUTV, Drexel's TV-station carried throughout Philadelphia on Comcast, Fios and online.

Did we mention that last year DNEWS won a Telly award? That's right, our October 2010 edition won a Telly Award this past spring and you can watch the episode here. This is your opportunity to learn how news magazine shows, like 60 Minutes and the Today Show, are created. The course and production will be supervised by Marty Zied, a distinguished producer of such primetime network news magazine shows as ABC's Primetime and CBS' 48 Hours. Opportunities for students to produce segments, be on camera, or to handle aspects of the physical production and post-production abound. For more information and to sign up for this exciting course, please contact DUTV General Manager, Dave Culver, dc75@drexel.edu or Television program director, professor Andrew Susskind, Susskind@drexel.edu.
