Thanks to the generous foresight made by long-time Drexel University benefactor and friend, Pearl Miller Carpel, Westphal College now has a permanent fund to support fashion, art, and design shows. The Pearl Miller Carpel Endowed Fund was created through an estate commitment and will ensure financial resources to showcase the brilliant work created by our students each year.

For many years Mrs. Carpel supported the Pearl Miller Carpel Award for Fashion Design. Her connection to Drexel started in 1997 because of her desire to help students financially. She regularly attended events, including the annual Fashion Show and the Design Honors Day celebrations, where she would personally present her award. With her passing in 2019, Mrs. Carpel left intentions in her will to provide 20% of her estate to Drexel University. Through that commitment her decades-long involvement with Drexel and Westphal College will be memorialized in perpetuity.
