Interior Design Junior Awarded Second Place in National Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship Competition

Justin Lee's design for Gensler Brinkmann competition

May 22, 2019

Interior Design junior Justin Lee was awarded second place in the national Gensler Brinkmann Scholarship competition, which awards interior design students with scholarships and summer internships. This scholarship was established as a memorial to Don Brinkmann, who is described by Gensler as “...an inspirational and gifted interior designer who personified the essence of design, vision, and leadership....”  and it is in this spirit that this scholarship is awarded. Justin may select from all global Gensler offices in which to do his internship.

Justin submitted a project from coursework in Westphal's Interior Design program, in which he designed a co-wroking and office environment immersed with virtual reality technology and artificial intelligence. He considered current trends in human performance in workplace settings, the future of work, and incorporation of new building standards to create a strong office design, work pods, and wayfinding. Justin collaborated with Devon Voelkel, an alumnus of the Department of Cinema & Television at Westphal, to create a video submission for the competition.
