Renee Weiss Chase, Fashion Design Professor, has been dedicated to the growth of our graduate and undergraduate Fashion Design programs, which now enjoy rankings as the third best in the country and the 13th best in the world. She has brought a rigor and exacting aesthetic to our programs for many years while leading as the Program Director of Fashion Design from 1985-2007, and for the Graduate program from 1985-1998. She is a master teacher and is always eagerly sought out for mentorship by our students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She was the recipient of the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2002, and she has made a lasting impact on Drexel that will grow with generations of Fashion Design students to come.
Her service to this College and the University has been exemplary and she was instrumental in securing a $1.0 million gift to the Fashion Design programs. Professor Chase has published two books, along with several journal contributions and book reviews. Throughout her tenure at Drexel, Professor Chase has maintained an artistic practice as a sculptor. Her work has been featured in nearly sixty shows and fairs, and that’s just since 2012.
