Banana Republic's Michael Anderson

April 19, 2017

We're pleased to announce Michael Anderson, Senior Vice President of Banana Republic, as the 2017  Design & Merchandising Program 's Distinguished Speaker.

Anderson will speak to his experiences leading Banana Republic, the American clothing and accessories retailer with over 500 stores in the United States alone. Anderson joined the Banana Republic team in October 2003, and oversees the day-to-day design process for all collections across men’s, women’s, and non-apparel, helping to establish the strategic vision of each collection. He works with teams to ensure that concepts are executed while simultaneously driving innovation, customer satisfaction, quality, fit, and business demands.

Born in England, Anderson grew up with a love for travel. He graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design from Kingston University in London. He came to Banana Republic with more than a decade of design experience for leading domestic apparel brands including Nautica, Tommy Hillfiger, Coach, and London Fog. An avid photographer, Anderson cites Paolo Roversi, Richard Avedon, and Albert Watson as his greatest influences. His current inspiration stems from the iconic, yet uncomplicated ease of Banana Republic’s California heritage. Anderson currently resides in Connecticut with his family.

Past Distinguished Speakers have included James Gundell, Co-Chief Operating Officer of Eileen Fisher Inc., Terry Lundgren, Chairman, President and CEO of Macy's Inc., and Angela Ahrendts, former CEO of Burberry.
