Professor Eric Karnes, Graphic Design

Eric Karnes, principal of the Karnes Poster Company and partner at the multi-disciplinary design studio Karnes/Coffey, has been appointed Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. Karnes previously worked for design and advertising firms such as Pentagram and the Martin Agency, and he has taught design and typography since 2006. His work has been featured in group and solo exhibitions and has received national recognition from organizations and publications such as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, Society of Publication Designers, American Advertising Federation, Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, Communication Arts, Print Magazine and the Village Voice, as well as a recent Platinum Award granted to Karnes/Coffey by Graphis.
Since 2012, Professor Karnes taught Graphic Design in the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce at Philadelphia University. While there he taught a range of graphic design coursework, including multiple levels of typography and graphic design studio courses, in addition to acting as advisor to senior theses. He received his MFA in Graphic Design from Virginia Commonwealth University and his BFA from Maryland Institute College Art, later serving as an adjunct faculty member at both institutions.
