Voice of the Sixers

October 7, 2015

Sports broadcaster Marc Zumoff is in his 22nd season as the television voice of the Philadelphia 76ers on Comcast Sportsnet. A 16-time, Mid-Atlantic Emmy award-winner with nearly 40 years of broadcast experience, Zumoff has also provided play-by-play for NBC Sports, Turner Sports, NBA-TV, Flyers hockey, Union Soccer and hundreds of other televised sporting events. In partnership with the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management, we’ll host Mr. Zumoff on October 14 for a discussion about careers in the sports broadcast industry.

The free-to-the-public talk will take place at 7:30pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert Street), where Zumoff will be in conversation with Martin Zied, senior producer for Drexel’s Paul F. Harron Studios. Zumoff will offer students practical guidance about jump-starting a career in the industry.

Zumoff began his own career in radio news, working for KYW News Radio. Before being named the Sixers’ play-by-play voice in 1994, he hosted pre-game/halftime/post-game coverage for the team. He is co-author the textbook Total Sportscasting: performance, production and career development (Focal Press).
