Dance Entanglements
May 4, 2015
Become entangled in five works performed by the FreshDance student dance company, on May 20 and 21, at 8:00pm in the Mandell Theater (33rd and Chestnut Streets). The ensemble’s spring concert, “Entangled,” features 30 dancers in pieces that range from the narrative to the abstract, including three works choreographed by faculty, one by a guest choreographer, and two by students. The works explore the intricacies of relationships and interactions and the complex vibrancy of our lives. Click here to purchase “Entangled” tickets, which are $5 for students and $10 general admission. The two student works that will be performed premiered last year in the Dance Ensemble concert and were choreographed by Dance major Mary Stickney and Design & Merchandising/Psychology Major Courtney Carey.
Faculty-choreographed works include pieces by Tania Isaac Hyman, founder of TaniaIsaacDance, and Olive Prince of the eponymous dance company. The show also features a piece by guest choreographer Jenn Rose, who is the founder of Loose Screws Contemporary Tap Company, a Broadway World Philadelphia Audience Choice Award winner and a three time Barrymore Award Nominee.
