New Graduate Program: Digital Media and Biomedicine
July 8, 2015
The Digital Media department has partnered with Drexel’s College of Medicine (DUCOM) to launch a new graduate program in Biomedicine and Digital Media. Focused on the intersection of technology and science, the Master’s program will offer courses in both the Westphal College and DUCOM’s School of Biomedical Sciences & Professional Studies. This is the first program that draws equally from medical studies and media design, preparing students for careers in emerging fields such as game applications for health or medical and forensic animation. The unique interdisciplinary curriculum merges Digital Media courses in game design, interactivity and animation with courses taught by expert faculty in the College of Medicine’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and the Institute for Molecular Medicine and Infectious Disease.
The skills-based program was created for students who are interested in media design and production careers with an emphasis in health and science. It’s one of four new cross-disciplinary graduate programs launching in the School of Biomedical Sciences & Professional Studies, all designed with an interdisciplinary focus to help prepare students to stay competitive in today’s evolving job market. Other new programs partner Biomedicine with the LeBow College of Business, the Close School of Entrepreneurship and the Kline School of Law.
The Master of Science degree in Biomedicine and Digital Media is a 36-credit program. Click here for information about the full curriculum.
