RJD2 on Vinyl
February 17, 2015
MAD Dragon Records has announced the official vinyl release of Icebird’s iconic album The Abandoned Lullaby for Record Store Day, a global celebration of independently owned brick-and-mortar record stores, on April 18, 2015. Called “the best two man indie-funk producer-singer superduo to come out of the woodwork since Gnarls Barkley” (Pitchfork), Icebird is a collaboration between RJD2, a Philadelphia-based producer with a large underground following, and Aaron Livingston, who is signed to Anti Records as Son Little and who has previously worked with the Roots on their album Undun. The Limited Edition double LP is being released in partnership with musician RJD2’s record label, RJ’s Electrical Connections. MAD Dragon Music Group will spearhead marketing and promotions for the exclusive vinyl release, launching extensive social media and local and national press campaigns, and collaborating with local and regional radio partners.
MAD Dragon Media will also work side by side with local record retailers in the Philadelphia area to leverage the Record Store Day tie-in. The original Abandoned Lullaby album was released in 2011, and this new edition will include reworked art specially curated by RJD2 along with two never-before released bonus cuts from The Abandoned Lullaby sessions.
