Perils & Promises of Design

An innovative designer, educator and speaker, Allan Chochinov is a partner at Core77, a New York-based design network serving a global community of designers. On Friday, October 17, Westphal College’s Product Design program will host Chochinov as a guest lecturer. His free and open-to-the-public talk, entitled “The Order of Things: Unpacking the Perils and Promises of Design and the Media,” will start at 5:00pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert Street).

Chochinov is the co-founder and Chair of the MFA in Products Design Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He writes widely on design education and the impact of design on contemporary culture, and has lectured around the world and at professional conferences including IDSA, AIGA and IxDA. He is Editor-at-Large of Core77.com, which since 1995 has served as a gathering point for industrial designers and design enthusiasts. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the widely-read design job and portfolio site, Coroflot.com and DesignDirectory.com, a design firm database. Chochinov frequently serves as a design competition juror and he has been a guest critic at universities the world over. No registration is required to attend the lecture.
