Connecting: Makers

May 15, 2014

The second chapter of “Connecting,” a series of short documentary films that explore trends in interaction and experience design, will be screened by Product Design Program Director Michael Glaser. Created from a partnership between Microsoft and Bassett & Partners, a disruptive brand and design strategy agency in San Francisco, the film series aims to start a meaningful dialogue within the design and tech communities about the challenges and opportunities facing these disciplines.

On June 2, we will host a 7:00 pm screening of “Connecting: Makers,” in the URBN Annex Screening room (3401 Filbert St), with a pre-reception at 6:00 pm. Professor Glaser is featured in the film, which explores the impact of connectivity on design, culture, creativity and, ultimately, humanity. Following the screening Professor Glaser will moderate a panel discussion and Q&A with Albert Shum, Partner Director of Design at Microsoft and Andrew Casden, “Connecting” Director and partner at Bassett & Partners. This will be the Philadelphia premiere of the film.

In addition to Professor Glaser, “Connecting: Makers” features the following thought-leaders: Bill Buxton (Microsoft), Bruce Nussbaum (Parsons New School of Design), Bre Pettis (MakerBot), Carla Diana (Smart Design Fellow), Tucker Fort & Gordon Hui (Smart Design), Benedetta Piantella (NYU ITP), and Marie O’Mahony (Ontario College of Art & Design).
