Veronica Mars Producer
April 30, 2014
L.A.-based film and television producer Dan Etheridge will visit this month from May 19 to May 22 as a Rankin Scholar in Residence. Etheridge recently produced the Veronica Mars movie, which was the most successfully crowd-funded film in history – the trailblazing Kickstarter campaign garnered more than 91,000 backers and raised $5.7 million. The film premiered at Austin’s 2014 SXSW Festival and was released nationally by Warner Brothers in March. There will be a screening of Veronica Mars, followed by a Q&A session with Etheridge, on May 22 at 7:00 pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert St).
The Veronica Mars film is based on the cultishly-beloved TV series produced by Etheridge. He also co-created, co-wrote, and served as Executive Producer of the acclaimed cable comedy Party Down, which won the AFI Award for Top Ten Television Series of 2009. On May 19 at 7:00 pm, Etheridge will host a TV Night in the URBN Annex Screening Room, during which he’ll screen the pilot episode of Veronica Mars and his favorite episode of Party Down.
Etheridge has also produced several successful indie films, including The Good Doctor starring Orlando Bloom and John August’s first feature, The Nines, starring Ryan Reynolds and Melissa McCarthy. The Nines was Etheridge’s second film to premiere at Sundance after Come Early Morning.
Currently, Etheridge is Executive Producer on iZombie, a television pilot from Warner Brothers TV for the CW network, and he is a Co-Executive Producer and On-set Producer for The Carrie Diaries, the television series prequel to Sex and the City.
