Style Icon: Grace Kelly

The Robert and Penny Fox Historic Costume Collection (FHCC) will open its doors to the public for a “Style Saturday” event featuring a look at the iconic style of Philadelphia’s beloved Grace Kelly. This is the third event in the Collection’s recently launched seminar series, which offers educational lecture/presentations on themed aspects of fashion history and provides opportunities to the public for rare viewings of the Collection’s more than 12,000 garments, accessories and textiles. “Grace Kelly: Icon of Beauty and Style” will take place on May 10, 9:45 am to 1:00pm, in Westphal College’s URBN Center (3501 Market Street) and will include light refreshments. Clare Sauro, Fox Historic Costume Collection curator, will lead a presentation exploring Grace Kelly in the context of 1950s and 1960s fashion and as an enduring icon of style. The talk will feature an exclusive viewing of the coral encrusted couture gown worn by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1965, alongside designer fashions of the times that exemplify the “Grace Kelly look.”
