On the Next DNews…

April 18, 2014

The next episode of Drexel’s television news magazine, DNews, will air on May 2 at 8:00 pm on DUTV (Comcast channels 54 or 62 and Fios channel 37). Each story was produced, shot and edited by Westphal College’s talented Film & Video, Entertainment & Arts Management, and TV Production & Media Management students, as well as by students from across the University.

Andres Spillari (Film & Video) shot two pieces for this episode, including one on Drexel’s 3rd annual Drag Show, and another on the recent Philadelphia Flamenco Festival’s master class led by contemporary Flamenco dance genius Israel Galván, which was produced by Joseph Juhase (Entertainment & Arts Management). Juhase also produced a segment on the “10 Must-Do Things” that every student should do before graduating from Drexel.

Dr. Prawat Nagvajara is profiled in John LaRussa’s (Film & Video) piece, which covers the Computer Engineering Professor’s Olympic Games participation as a cross-country skier for his native Thailand at Salt Lake City in 2002 and Torino in 2006. Catherine Carnabuci (Film & Video) shot an interactive tape art demonstration by artist Mark Khaisman, whose pop-culture focused works were exhibited in the Pearlstein Gallery’s “Raw to Refined” show in early 2014.

DUTV is part of the Paul F. Harron Studios and receives generous support from the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies. Click here for more information on DNews and DUTV and click here to watch the episode
