Visiting Professor Hana Iverson and students from her Art and Social Justice media course invite the public to attend a roundtable discussion with renowned photojournalist and MacArthur Genius fellow, Susan Meiselas, who will present an in-depth look at her work on Kurdistan, as well as other projects, on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. in URBN Center Room 349 (3501 Market St., Philadelphia).

Meiselas’ works have been published in newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, The Times, Time, GEO and Paris Match.  In the late 1970s, Meiselas documented the insurrection in Nicaragua and human rights issues in Latin America. Her 1991 documentary, Pictures from a Revolution, depicts her return to sites she photographed and conversations with subjects of the photographs as they reflect on the images 10 years after the war. In 2004, Meiselas returned to Nicaragua and installed 19 mural sized images of her photographs on the original locations where they were taken. The project was called Reframing History. Meiselas has since published several books of her own photographs and has edited and contributed to many others. 

Joining Meiselas on the panel is Rudman Institute Executive Director and former NBC News London Bureau Chief, Karen Curry, who previously served as Vice President and New York Bureau Chief at CNN, where among other things, she ran the bureau's coverage of 9/11 and its aftermath, including several new shows that were launched in the midst of that coverage.
