The Architecture & Interior Design Department’s annual Arfaa lecture series kicks off with award-winning architect, Randall Stout, who worked closely with Frank Gehry before opening his own Los Angeles-based firm, Randall Stout Architects, Inc., in 1996. Stout will present his lecture, “Convergent Systems and the Decline of Autonomous Design” at the Mandell Theater (33rd & Chestnut Streets, Philadelphia) on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Recognized for producing some of the world’s most distinguished sustainable architecture, Stout has established an international profile in a relatively short time. He has created a wide variety of building types – from art museums to industrial facilities to houses – in North America, Europe and Asia and forged innovative and productive collaborations with other designers and specialists across the globe. His work was recently included in the exhibit, “A New Sculpturalism,” held at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

The Architecture & Interior Design Department’s future Arfaa lecture series guests include James Timberlake of the firm KieranTimberlake, interior designer Marguerite Rogers and architectural critic, curator and Yale University Professor Nina Rappaport, whose topic is “Deep Decoration and Structural Design.”
