TechCamp Philadelphia
March 20, 2013
The Westphal College recently hosted and sponsored TechCamp Philadelphia, a program of the US Department of State that creates a unique opportunity for technologists to work directly with artists, educators, and nonprofit leaders in a hands-on environment that results in the creation of new tools, resources, and professional networks. More than 100 leaders and entrepreneurs from the technology, education, and creative sectors came together for a weekend-long gathering to share ideas and develop solutions to challenges facing the Philadelphia region.
TechCamp Philadelphia was the first TechCamp to be held in the United States, and based on its success, will likely be replicated elsewhere. Arts Administration Professor Neville Vakharia led the effort to bring TechCamp to Drexel's campus and facilitated several sessions on fundraising and crowd-funding strategies and tools. The URBN Center provided the ideal environment in which to inspire attendees to develop creative solutions and new ways of thinking.
