MAD Dragon Receives 5 IMA Nominations
March 20, 2013
MAD Dragon Records, our Music Industry program’s record label, has received five nominations from the 12th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs). The label has now received 35 nominations since 2007. MAD Dragon Records has twice won College Label of the year for albums by Hoots & Hellmouth (2007) and The Redwalls (2008), and in 2011 Be Frank Records, a label owned and operated by music industry alums, Fred Knittle and Matt Klein, won label of the year. This year, the College Label category has been eliminated so our nominations are exclusively against albums and songs released by independent labels and artists from across the country.
This year’s nominations are Making Moves artists Brick + Mortar, Motion City Soundtrack, and Goldrush nominated under the “Rock Album (EP)” category; Making Moves artist A Great Big Pile of Leaves nominated in the “Best Song Indie/Alt. Rock” category for their song “Pet Mouse”; and Pretty Good Dance Moves for their album under the “Dance/Electronic” category. MAD Dragon Records is supported in part by the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute For Entertainment Industry Studies. Click here for more information on the IMA’s.
