Evening of African American Music
February 20, 2013
In honor of Black History Month, the Gospel Choir and Jazztet will celebrate the musical contributions made by African American musicians when they present their annual Evening of African American Music on Sunday, February 10th at 5 PM in the Stein Auditorium/Nesbitt Hall (33rd & Market Sts).
The Gospel Choir, under the direction of Rev. Gregory Ross, has invited six soloists and one lead dancer, all Drexel graduates, back to perform and to celebrate the Gospel Choir’s 35th year as an ensemble. This concert is a prelude to their 35th Anniversary Concert that will be held in the Main Auditorium on March 2nd; for that concert all alumni have been invited back to participate. The Jazztet, under the direction of Dr. George Starks, will perform classic jazz standards by Benny Golson, Freddie Hubbard, and Bobby Timmons. This concert is free and open to the public.
