The Photography of Sebastian Rich
September 26, 2012
Sebastian Rich has been a photographer/cameraman working in hard news and documentaries for over thirty years. Rich has photographed every major world conflict that occurred during that time. The Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies will host Rich for a one-on-one talk with Rudman Institute Director, Karen Curry, on Thursday, October 4th at 6:30 PM in University Crossings Small Screening room (030).
Rich has photographed wars and conflicts in El Salvador, Northern Ireland, Afghanistan, Sudan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Bosnia, Palestine, Iraq, and throughout the Middle East. During the war in Iraq, Sebastian was ‘embedded’ with the 2nd Battalion 8th Marines for much of the duration. He has been wounded several times, and was kidnapped and held hostage while on assignment in Beirut. Over the years, Sebastian has been a personal cameraman to some of British television’s most highly respected journalists and is a favored photographer with the NGO Medicins Sans Frontiers, Save the Children, World Wildlife Foundations and United Nations agencies.
