Want to Win a $5,000 Drexel Film & Video Scholarship?

Rules for the Drexel Film & Video "Express Yourself" Scholarship Contest

We're looking for students who are really good at putting personality on paper, and telling a story in pictures.

If you think you can do that--

Here's what we want:

• A five hundred word essay about your favorite reading-- books, magazines, web sites, whatever. Why do you like it? Why do you keep going back? Be specific-- show us how understanding something you read helps us understand you.
• A link to a video of no more than two minutes in length or a series of nine still photos that tell a story illustrating the development of a clearly defined emotion. Feel free to use music and sound, but no dialogue.
• And no music videos, please.

What can you win?

• 1st Prize:
  $5,000 Drexel University Scholarship to the Film & Video Program
• 2nd Prize:
  $3,000 Drexel University Scholarship to the Film & Video Program
• 3rd Prize:
  $1,000 Drexel University Scholarship to the Film & Video Program

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW

All scholarship awards are conditioned upon the winners applying and being admitted to Drexel University during the normal application cycle. Scholarship awards must be redeemed within 3 years of receiving the scholarship award. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, local or other applicable taxes with respect to prizes awarded by Drexel.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO APPLY? Not a cent. Well, postage.

WHO'S ELIGIBLE? Any student enrolled as a junior or senior at an American high school during the 2012-2013 school year.

WHAT'S THE DEADLINE? All entries must be postmarked no later than December 30, 2012.

DO I NEED A COVER PAGE? Of course you do, and it better have your name, phone number, email address and any other way we can contact you. Not to mention—it must also have the project's title.

WHEN DO I FIND OUT IF I WON? We'll try let you know by January 30, 2012, but sometimes the judging runs late.

DO I GET MY ENTRY BACK? Alas, no. Please don't send your only copy!

WHO ARE THE JUDGES? First-round judges: junior- and senior-level students in Drexel's Film & Video Program. Finalists: Faculty of Drexel's Film & Video Program.

WHAT WILL I BE JUDGED ON? How well you can express yourself and hold our attention. Whether we think you have something interesting to say. Whether it looks like you understand how to use words-- and tell a story without them. How good it all is. That kind of stuff. By the way, all judges' decisions are final.

WHAT IS THE FILM & VIDEO PROGRAM, ANYWAY? Glad you asked. We're a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program, and you can find out all you want to know righthere.

OKAY, SO HOW DO I APPLY? Send us the following:

• Your essay and DVD or pictures
• A copy of the completed entry form.
