Outdoor Music Fest

June 4, 2012

The Music program will present a free outdoor concert featuring the Rock, Fusion, and Percussion Ensembles on Friday, June 8th, between 12:30 and 5 PM, on the North Terrace of the Daskalakis Athletic Center (34th and Market St.). Throughout the afternoon, each ensemble will present jazz, pop, and rock favorites. The Fusion Ensemble, led by Lynn Riley, will perform music by Thelonious Monk. At 2 PM, the Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of recording artist and Grammy nominee, Mark Beecher, will present “The Classic Rock Classic.” Featuring songs by Rush, The Doors, and Black Sabbath, the Percussion Ensemble will also be joined by “The Hubos” – a robotic band supervised by a team from Drexel’s Musical & Entertainment Technology Lab, which includes Drexel University Percussion alumnus, Matt Prockup. The Rock Ensemble will also perform a selection of such classic rock hits as Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer, Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”, and Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sherriff.” For more information about this free outdoor concert contact Tom Bonner at twb54@drexel.edu.
