Will Smith to Honor Charlie Mack for Volunteer Efforts

July 23, 2012

American Benefactor Foundation, founded by Marla Green DiDio , Chair of the Drexel Design Council, is recognizing Charlie Mack – a manager, producer and community volunteer – for his efforts to launch the new Charlie Mack Cares Center in West Philadelphia and The Charlie. The event will take place tonight, Friday, July 20th at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. As part of the ABF ceremony on Friday, Charlie Mack will be joined on stage by friends Will Smith, Will’s son Jaden Smith, AJ Calloway (Extra) and others. Together they will issue a leadership challenge to young Philadelphians. The goal is to advance education, promote healthy lifestyles through exercise and nutrition and expose students to entrepreneurism. Proceeds from the evening will fund scholarships for West Philadelphia students to attend summer programs at Drexel’s Westphal College of Media Arts & Design in 2013.

The event is open to the public and begins at 6 PM with the awards ceremony, followed by cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction. Tickets range between $250 and $1,000 and are currently on sale at abfhonorscharliemack.eventbrite.com. For more information, call 267-687-0223. (Some limited-edition ticket packages include a VIP Celebrity Reception beforehand with Will Smith, Jaden Smith, AJ Calloway, Hill Harper and honoree Charlie Mack.)
