Typography Covers Learning Annex

January 24, 2012

Drexel Libraries invited sophomore graphic design students to develop unique designs to be printed on furniture in the Libraries Learning Terrace (33rd & Race St). During the fall 2011 term, students in Typography I classes, taught by Graphic Design Professors Shushi Yoshinaga and Julia Colton, worked under tight deadlines to create typographical compositions. Five designs were selected and will now be printed on fabric screens that are part of the Herman Miller furniture currently located at the Learning Terrace. The Library provided the students with a list of suggested words including “communication,” “leadership” and “environment” to use as inspiration for their designs.

Projects were on display at the Learning Terrace between November 28th and December 5th to allow members of the campus community to provide feedback on the projects and help select which pieces would be installed in the Terrace. The five selected designs were from Lauren Poole, Soha Qadir, Gerre Mae F. Barcebal, Danielle Rowan and Seth Fowler, and they were unveiled during a reception at the Learning Terrace on January 17th honoring the students.
