Women are making a mark in today’s music industry – as performers, artist managers, recording engineers, publicists, lawyers, journalists, talent bookers or senior record label executives. Hear from some of the music business’s most powerful women and find out how they broke down walls to build up the careers they love. Women Rock! is a panel discussion featuring five highly successful women in the music business.
The panel includes:
- Rona Elliot (moderator): A respected music journalist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame board member, whose career has involved doing presswork at Woodstock to reporting on music for the Today Show to her work as a writer and historian of the music scene
- Joan Myers: Veteran publicist who, for over twenty years, has been a leader in marketing and communications for musical artists, concert tours, corporate-based media relations awards shows, television programs and festivals
- Vanessa Parr: A young recording engineer with The Village Recorder in Los Angeles who has worked with Elton John, Gregg Allman, Elvis Costello, Dixie Chicks, T Bone Burnett, and on films including Crazy Heart, Talledega Nights and others
- Marcy Rauer Wagman: A faculty member in the Music Industry Program at Westphal College and an entertainment lawyer and songwriter/producer, who was instrumental in setting up many of Drexel University’s Music Industry program’s curriculum innovations
- Stacie George: Senior Talent Buyer at Live Nation in Philadelphia, responsible for booking artists into venues and festivals ranging in capacities of 1000 to 25,000 people
