Media and Visual Arts students from Japan's Tamagawa University will be visiting Drexel and Philadelphia from July 31st through August 5th. As part of this cultural exchange, they will exhibit their textile work, along with work by Tamagawa University faculty member Ms. Fujieda, in Nesbitt's Chapman Court from August 1st through the 3rd. There will be an opening reception on Wednesday, August 3rd at 5:30 PM during which students will give a demonstration on traditional Japanese textile techniques.

Shushi Yoshinaga, Graphic Design Professor, has been involved in the planning of international programs for visual and media arts students at Tamagawa University for several years and taught a three day typography workshop and gave lectures there last summer. Professor Yoshinaga is planning a future study tour program for Drexel students to visit Japan and Tamagawa University, located just outside of Tokyo. These projects will strengthen Drexel's relationship with Tamagawa University as we move towards establishing an exchange program to further serve our and Tamagawa students and to further international design education.

While at Drexel, the seven Tamagawa students will live in dorms, take English lessons focusing on how to present themselves and their work, visit design classes, give Japanese textile demonstrations in Fashion classes and visit Philadelphia museums and a fabric workshop.
