Boombox Logic
October 26, 2010
Philadelphia has always been a force in the world of hip-hop. MAD Dragon Records, our award-winning student-run record label, builds upon the city’s hip-hop legacy with the release of Kuf Knotz’s first solo album, Boombox Logic. The album features outstanding tracks such as “Sunny Philadelphia,” likely to become another Philadelphia anthem following up on Kuf’s song “Unstoppable,” which was played at the World Series and was proclaimed “The Phillies Official Song,” and “Summa Funk,” featuring G. Love on vocals and guitar. Kuf will play a record release show at World Café Live this Saturday, October 16th at 10 PM and Boombox Logic will be released worldwide on Tuesday, October 26th. Kuf has been making a name for himself as a member of some of Philly’s most cutting-edge and unique rap crews — first as a founding member of the BurnDown All-Stars and, more recently, his own group, hip-hop/soul collective The Hustle. He has had the honor of being the first hip-hop artist ever to open for Bruce Springsteen. WithBoombox Logic, Kuf’s created a diverse, far-reaching collection that underscores the rapper’s eclectic tastes of everything from rock and folk to jazz, soul and the blues.
A native Philadelphian, Kuf was discovered by legendary “Sound of Philadelphia” producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, who signed him to Philadelphia International Records. In 2010 Kuf signed as a solo artist with MAD Dragon Records. “I’m excited about this opportunity,” Kuf said, “It’s such a great situation to be working with such an innovative program and so closely with music industry students and MAD Dragon.” Kuf has been hard at work promoting the new album. From a performance on NBC’s the 10! Show, to studio sessions at WXPN 88.5 FM, Kuf is defying logic with unique tracks.
