A Reporter's Journey through the Iraqi War

November 18, 2010

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have claimed the lives of over 5,000 members of our armed forces. In his documentary, Full Disclosure, journalist and film maker Brian Palmer explores the human costs of war and the tragic consequences of miscommunication on the battlefield. From 2004 through 2006, Palmer was embedded three times with the First Battalion/Second Marine Regiment in Iraq. During that time he experienced ambushes and IED explosions, all while capturing the effects of war on the marines, and also on himself. Palmer will come to Drexel to screen his film and hold a discussion on life in a warzone as an embedded reporter.

Over his twenty year career as a journalist, Palmer has been a CNN correspondent, Beijing Bureau Chief for US News & World Report and writer for Fortune magazine. His writing has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Newsday, Mother Jones, Huffington Post and the Village Voice. His photographs have appeared in the New York Times, US News and World Report and others. Palmer is a fellow at NYU Law School’s Center on Law and Security and is on the faculty of the School for Visual Arts.
