Ginch Gonch is one of the fastest growing premium lifestyle brands in the world, using humor, sexuality and popular culture to sell their funky, fashion-forward underwear. Rebecca Wilkinson, Ginch Gonch's Director of Schmoozing and Carousing, will be at Drexel to give the talk No More Tighty Whities-Live Like A Kid: The Branding Story of Ginch Gonch on November 10th at 6 PM in Bossone Auditorium, followed by a reception. With underwear named "Shiney Heiny,' "Wiener Eater' and "Crotch Rocket,' it's no wonder Ginch Gonch has the reputation of being fun and fearless.
The daring company uses witty and suggestive marketing tactics to draw in such customers as recording artists Nelly and Avril Lavigne and reality TV star Lauren Conrad. Their designs have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Women's Wear Daily, People and Teen Vogue. Beyond online sales, Ginch Gonch underwear can be found in premium department stores and exclusive boutiques in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, Tokyo, Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Sydney, and Milan.
Rebecca's talk will also serve as a book launch for Design & Merchandising Professor Dr. Joseph Hancock's new book Brand/Story: Ralph, Vera, Johnny, Billy and Other Adventures in Fashion Branding, which profiles Ginch Gonch.
This event is part of Multicultural Appearances, Attitudes & Style!: A Lecture Series Celebrating Fashion & Diversity. The series aims to inspire viewers about the popular and social topics that surround fashion, style, culture and identity. Upcoming events will present Harold Koda, Curator in Charge of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Dr. Gwendolyn Snead O'Neal, Professor and Head of the Department of Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
This Fashion Lecture series is sponsored by Intercultural Engagement & Diversity Initiative, the Office of Multicultural Programs, the Department of Architecture and Interiors, the Design & Merchandising Program and The Fashion and Design Student Association and the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.
