The audition consists of an eclectic technique class with samplings of ballet, modern and jazz dance. Following the class, each student will perform a solo of no more than two minutes duration in any genre of dance. Your music, if you use it, should be on CD or iPod.
Please wear dancewear that covers your knees and stomach, with your hair tied back. No jewelry other than small earrings are permitted, and baggy clothing over your dancewear is prohibited. Please be prepared to take the ballet portion of the audition in soft shoes and the modern and jazz sections in bare feet.
Students will complete the necessary paperwork upon arrival and need not bring a photo or resume. Visitors are not permitted to observe the audition, but may stay for informal conversation with the dance faculty following the audition.
All applicants are encouraged to audition in person, as this gives us the most complete assessment of a student¹s abilities and readiness to enter the program. If extenuating circumstances prevent an applicant from auditioning in person, videotaped auditions May be submitted through the link below:
Students under 18 need a parent or guardian to accompany them to the audition.
