Music Startup Academy
October 07, 2015
On Wednesday, October 28th we’ll host The Music Business Association’s first-ever Philadelphia-based Music Startup Academy, addressing subjects that affect artists, startups, and entrepreneurs breaking into the music industry. The Academy has previously been held in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, London, Nashville and San Francisco. Presenters at the Philly event include Michael Fiebach, CEO of digital marketing agency Fame House; Kelly Snow, CEO of local digital-mixtape startup Mixette; and representatives from Sony, SynchTank/Soundgizmo and more, all covering a range of topics from the licensing landscape to music operations and business development. The Academy will wrap with an Elevator Pitch Shark Tank, in which local startups can pitch their music business-related products or services to a panel of expert judges who will provide helpful critiques. Click here to purchase tickets to the event, which will take place on the 28th from 5:00pm – 9:30pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert Street). Drexel students and faculty can register for free with the code Drexel-free.
To register to participate in the Elevator Pitch Shark Tank and receive feedback that will prepare you to pitch your product or service to venture capitalists, signup here, and create a Music Startup Network profile here. Both forms must be completed by October 16.
“Drexel University is a natural fit to host Music Biz’s first Philadelphia-based Music Startup Academy,” said Marc Offenbach, Westphal Music Industry professor. “With a nationally recognized music industry program, a student-run record label, and a school dedicated to guiding young entrepreneurs, our University produces the type of motivated trailblazers that the Music Startup Academy has a track record of nurturing to success.”
